We’ve been putting teasers on our socials for the last few weeks, and this week we unveiled the new and improved rear garden to the children!
We’ve developed the rear garden by bringing in a number of new resources, to support the children’s learning and development in all areas of learning, and to encourage more purposeful outdoor play.
These include:
- A climbing frame to support children with their physical development, critical thinking, risk management and awareness of others
- A set of scales and an abacus to support the children with their early mathematics
- An outdoor ‘home corner’ for lots of imaginative play and role-play (lots of soup was made this week!)
- A chalk board easel for early literacy, through mark making and exposure to the written word (menus and recipes etc!)
- Wooden loose parts for open-ended play, such as stacking, building, balancing
- Water table with a water wall for scooping, pouring and splashing our practitioners
- Messy tray for all sorts of messy play, and expressive arts and design
- Guttering stands for lots of opportunities, including helping children develop schemas through transporting water, rolling balls, cars etc through the pipes
And all of these involve lots of talking points and fantastic opportunities to develop communication and language!
What do you think your child will most enjoy exploring in this garden?
