We're delighted to announce that as part of Banana Moon Day Nursery’s ‘Little hearts, bright futures’ initiative, our new automated external defibrillator (AED) has been installed in our nursery – making life-saving equipment accessible to the nursery alongside the local community.
Here at Banana Moon, the future of the next generation is at the heart of everything we do. This lifesaving equipment will help us to ensure our little ones have the best chance of a bright future, no matter what life throws at us.
Although we hope that our defibrillator will never have to be used, we hope it gives reassurance to parents as we continue to demonstrate our commitment to safeguarding the little ones in our care, as well as serving the wider community.
A defibrillator plays an essential role in the chances of bringing someone back from an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. According to the British Heart Foundation (BHF), using a defibrillator in addition to quality CPR can increase the odds of someone’s survival from around 6% to 74%.
This lifesaving equipment is located in our reception area and will be accessible at all times throughout the nursery day. The device will also be registered on The Circuit, meaning that 999 call handlers can direct the local ambulance service and local residents to the device during operating hours, boosting the survival chances of people who have an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
