The sun is starting to shine, the days are becoming longer, and it finally feels like spring is on its way – hooray!

Somehow it is already the first half term of the year and I’m sure many of you will find yourselves at home with your little ones, looking for some fun and cost-effective activities to do with your children. If this is the case, then look no further! We have compiled a list of some fun (and mostly free) activities happening across Barnstaple and North Devon this week, that are suitable for children and families, including under-fives!

Rosemoor Gardens: Rosemoor is free for those with RHS memberships and for children under-five and is always a great day out for the family! There are beautiful gardens, woodland walks, adventure playgrounds and in addition to this, Rosemoor always put on lots of great activities during the school holidays. This half term is no exception, with family planting workshops, garden trails, story time adventures and magic shows, there is something for everyone. Barnstaple Library: If the weather takes a turn for the worse, or if you find yourself in Barnstaple town centre, then the library is always a great place for young children! The children’s library is a wonderful space with lots of books and audio books to choose from all year round, but during the holidays then put on extra activities. This half term there is a Lego builder session, valentines crafts and busy bee crafts, so lots of creative fun! Northam Burrows: Living in North Devon, we are so privileged to be surrounded  by beautiful countryside and stunning beaches. If you’re looking to get outside and explore the great outdoors with your little ones this half term, then Northam Burrows have a few different half term activities. On offer this holiday is ‘Mud Dipping’ which is described as a chance to “explore the Skern saltmarsh and learn about the weird and wonderful creatures that call it home” as well as a Rockpool Ramble. Affinity: If your little one loves crafting and creating, then you may want to visit Affinity Shopping Centre in Bideford for their free half term craft activities! This half term there is a ‘Marble Magic’ and an ‘Under the Sea’ session on offer, and why not grab a bargain in the shops whilst you’re there?
